Powers and Duties of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University

Under the authority and duties stipulated by the Rajabhat University Act, B.E. 2547 (2004), according to Chapter 1, General Provisions, Section 7, the university is designated as an institution of higher education for local development, which enhances the intellectual strength of the nation, revitalizes learning power, honors local wisdom, and creates art and science for the sustainable and stable advancement of the people. It plays an important role in managing, maintaining, and using natural resources and the environment in a balanced and sustainable manner. The purpose of the education provided is to promote academic knowledge and professional skills, engage in teaching and research, offer academic services to society, improve, transfer, and develop technology, preserve arts and culture, produce teachers, and promote the professional qualifications of educators.

Section 8 outlines the university’s responsibilities to achieve the objectives under Section 7, including the following duties:

  1. Seek truth and excellence in academics based on local wisdom, Thai wisdom, and universal wisdom.
  2. Produce graduates with knowledge and morality, who are aware of their Thai identity and have a deep connection to their local communities. It also promotes lifelong learning in communities to help local people adapt to changes. The production of graduates must align with national graduate production plans and their quality.
  3. Enhance understanding and pride in the local and national culture.
  4. Strengthen community leaders, religious leaders, and local politicians by fostering democratic consciousness, ethics, and leadership capabilities to manage community and local development for the public benefit.
  5. Strengthen the teaching profession, producing and developing teachers and educational personnel with quality and standards appropriate for a high-level profession.
  6. Promote cooperation between the university, local communities, local governments, and other organizations, both within the country and internationally, to aid in local development.
  7. Study and seek ways to develop both indigenous and modern technologies that are suitable for local livelihoods and occupations, including methods for the management, maintenance, and sustainable use of natural resources and the environment.
  8. Study, research, promote, and continue projects based on royal initiatives as part of the university's mission for local development.

In addition to these powers, duties, and responsibilities, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University must also adhere to the Civil Service Regulations in Higher Education Institutions Act, B.E. 2547 (2004) and its amendments (No. 2), B.E. 2551 (2008), as well as the regulations of the Civil Service Commission and other relevant laws that are in effect.
